My deep, intuitive understanding of the female form, drapery, and visual presence was forged through decades of high-level creative practice. Having trained as a Sculptor at art college, I mastered the three-dimensional weight and balance of form. This led me to practice intensive life drawing at the legendary Royal Academy in London, giving me direct, classical training in the raw reality of human anatomy, structural proportion, and physical movement.

Later, working globally as an International Fashion Model and training as a Professional Photographer, I spent years on runways and behind the lens. Directing and shooting female models taught me how fabric catches the light, how a silhouette drapes across a figure, and how to create unforgettable looks that command a room from every angle. These dresses are engineered from both sides of the lens and the sculptor’s studio to ensure effortless glamour and absolute confidence.

But my relationship with the needle runs far deeper than the runway. My education in garment construction began back in 1979 as a young Punk. Driven by a fierce need for self-expression and unable to afford the alternative clothes I wanted, I embraced the raw DIY ethos of the era and took to my mum’s sewing machine. I learned by deconstructing—creating "frankenstein" pieces by completely taking apart garments I’d bought, studying how the panels interacted, and hand-stitching them back together from scratch. That hands-on mastery of pattern-making ensures every dress in this collection is structurally engineered to contour flawlessly.

The intricate patterns you see here are heavily inspired by ancient, rustic textile methods—specifically the early art of hand-carving designs into wooden printing blocks. True to the unbroken ethos of the entire URCHIN brand, every motif, collage layout, and repeat print is born entirely freehand on paper. Hand-drawn with ink or hand-painted with raw intent, the artwork is photographed, digitized, and meticulously arranged into finished fabric designs. Strictly AI-free—not now, not ever.
